Instrumentation

It is important to develop a good instrumentation and monitoring plan and have it in place before you turn on the freezing.   We use the output of the advanced analyses to help locate key points for monitoring such that they confirm anticipated freezing schedules andprovide early warning signs of unexpected behavior.

Engineering Support

Ground freezing can induce a lot of stress and this can impact buried structures or temporary or permanent works you are building.  Frozen ground is also dynamic and can exhibit creep behavior.  It's important to know what to look for and monitor it.   We use carefully planned field data to compare with model predictions and we update the models so they are current with observations.   If unexpected events happen, a well calibrated model can show what outcomes may be possible when risks are handled pro-actively.
